Film of the Year

December 19, 2017

My film of the year is the dark comedy Doomsdays. While this film was technically produced in 2013, it was new to me this year and that’s how I am qualifying its eligibility. The film is anxiously jarring in the first act, and really, it takes some effort on the viewer to embrace the destructive anarchy of the duo who are nihilistic squatters. With patience, however, the viewer will be rewarded with an amusing rebellion of our culture’s paradoxical abundance of wealth yet impoverished human conditioning.

This is independent filmmaking at its finest.
