‘Heatwork’ by Nicole Ondre @ Tanya Leighton Gallery
Nicole Ondre demonstrates a fascinating effort at self-reliant form with her ceramic sculptures at Tanya Leighton Gallery. There is a sincere daring, and therefore a necessary approbation, for her spontaneous glasseous forms inspired by knots and her affirmation of what is a beautiful shape and color.
It is in this plasticity where the soft spasticity gives recurrent memories of favorable impressions of novel synthetic materials – those woven by man. Unless we are to move ourselves to more sickening ideas like the unpleasantness of worms and the like? We must affirm a beauty, and with that a void of ideas which verge unto death. And yes, there are sincere ideas of beauty by Ms. Ondre which we can more than muster. We can celebrate!
The rotundity stretches of pallid green creates originality into the lens of experiencing the human body. It causes a cerebral motion, one of a ceasing stoppage to admire and ponder – what is this substance?
It is that curiosity which Ms. Ondre brings to the table which is so endearing. The truth of her final judgment in the assembly of high heated ceramic kinetics gives us a firmer appreciation of appreciating the mystique of process when we relate it to the impressionable outcome. And that outcome is towards an awareness of healthy originality.
