‘A Colorful Symphony’ @ Shatto Gallery

March 9, 2024

Shatto Gallery provides us with a mind-expansiveness in new conceptual ideas with A Colorful Symphony. The group show demonstrates greater inventiveness in bringing to Earth, in a new light, ideas of true beauty which require that patient meditation which is otherwise known as pensive.

And pensive is the appropriate perspective we are given with groundbreaking digital pigment print – another confident step forward for photography in the fine arts, only demonstrating the human capability of true excellence – that which brightens not blemishes – through the dark shrouded mystery of the landscape being by, say Edoardo Cialfi, or more superiorly, Frank Dituri.

Mr. Dituri’s perspectives of foreground, for instance, positively stretch the human mind in grasping what is imaginable. And this is not with suddenness, but with pensiveness. Not rapture but reverie. More hint in the tint than a shrieking shout photoexposure desiring to dazzle. The beauty is that self-evident (it need not say more).

The textual efforts of his works involve that patterning of arboreal and botanical detail, to even further extend our notion of bucolic – with a photographic dynamism that moves towards supple. The miniature dimensions of approximately no greater than 30″x30″ give a hidden awareness of terrestrial beauty seen anew.

Can you let your body become

Supple as a newborn child’s?

Meanwhile, Yang Mi Lee introduces a supple idea of vivid with her choiceness in violet. The brightness of the geometric concepts, so starkly contrasted with white, moves us further to appreciate a new gradient of the idea of contrast-in-itself. But the arts writer must enjoy the physical blunting of a luscious color, polished with that impeccable prick of pressure that moves but does not shake. A practice of brightness, indeed.

In this way the Sage

Always helps people

And rejects none,

Always helps all beings,

And rejects none.

This is called practicing brightness.

Lastly, for the genuine celebration of avante garde, where discovery is needed to be enjoyed continually in one’s life-growth, there is filial piety – a testimony to human kindness that is endured through the genuine love of the effort to sustain love on earth through the generations of continuous labor with one’s hands.

Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

Exodus 15:6

How unique it is to be born with them! To then admire the previous generations of our ancestors, who so willed our place on earth, who constantly strive in a direction which desires to fate their children’s future best. So modestly, humbly, presented with the most mundane of everyday temporal goods: the chair.

To extend our ability to sit, is to desire to be seated best. And that is to be seated in perfect peace.

The downward propulsion in the artwork exhibits that profound moral idea, so necessary  to impress on the minds of the youth, on the selfish attitude which breaks the family bond. It is in the abandonment of the common goal – the common good – first principled with one’s own filial order, where the shining monument of simple pleasures is illuminated, however anodyne the media crafted by the artist, Mr. Sean Young, seems to be. Equilibrium is sustained by inner peace or harmony. This is the end of all humanity, and by necessity, the fate of all families. Let there be less vain delicate nails that rise to the top seat, such that the innocent below are not disturbed or shaken from their family tree.
