‘Field Sketch’ by Patrick Wilson @ Vielmetter Los Angeles
Mr. Patrick Wilson opens with an amazing geometrical exhibition with his Field Sketch at Veilmetter Los Angeles. What he accomplishes with his rectilinear ideas and gradient of colors imposes upon that understanding of order and regularity yet with enough sensation of motion, the kinetics experienced by the works of art are standout on their own. And it is in his creativity at introducing new experiences of the proud geometry with the choreography of color that brings a new truth of beauty to the world.
Is it typical to consider the rules of rectangular agreement hardening and imprisoning rather than spiritually liberating in the construction of a new perceptual space? That with the notion of the line and its intersection terminal, there is the suggestion of end and therefore a disappointing order which constricts or contains rather than contours and curves. A rational extension of finite; yet with such a phenomenon of harmony, Mr. Wilson ends up limiting our preconception of bad rules; of limited designs; of a dynamic stillness which informs us of a new idea of centering; a counter-intuitive grounding which limits are constructed to maintain.
Limits such as laws, yet clearly absent of insipidness; indeed it would be a high-insult to suggest anything resembling boring or daggering with the redundancy of the rectilinear form. It is in that positive animation of our senses which has that pleasantry in the novelty of the beautiful ideas that extend the idea of space itself.
And what of the idea of color? The void of repetitiveness in the color tones, yet is that indisputably patterned forms that dangerous suggestion of chaos amidst such certain order upon our impressions. Yet why must chaos be considered uncontainable? Why must it veer towards veering out of bounds? That free will motion, freedom, is sustained only through boundaries – certainly the Natural one of harmony – helps us apprehend a better understanding of the achievement of extending human imaginary possibilities with these works of art. It is one of a geometrical cultivation of self-certain truth painted wonderfully.
