‘Power of Myth’ by Casey McCafferty @ Nino Mier Gallery

June 10, 2022

Mr. Casey McCafferty presents to us an organic formalism with his quasi-tribal yet thoroughly faunal originality opening at Nino Mier Gallery in West Hollywood, CA. The measure of the placement of the physical extensions of anthropomorphic – and therefore humanely cosmic – forms is its own weight of the difficult act of balancing human imagination with the Natural World. And it is here where the artist shines.

The quantity of his placements of extensive pseudo-Easter Island mystiques, left ashore for a civilized man to re-discover, is its own masterful reach successfully ringing true. We do not, in other words, have excessive amounts of gestures to breach into the zany and therefore possibly hostile toward reason; we instead have a softness in the delicate quantity of, say, hand gestures; creating for us a pleasing welcoming invitation as opposed to more nefarious ends which hide in the bellows of the wooded craftsmanship.

It is in this tranquility which is emphasized by the smoothness of the delicate agreement in which humans and wooded trees live together, which mystically imbues the origination of each cosmic testimony to a connectedness between man and the Earth, now being augmented by Mr. McCafferty’s successful seeding of stone in his works. This quality of resonance is the consummation of perfection in the Fine Arts.
