‘Still Wet’ Bedri Baykam @ Gloria Delson Contemporary Arts
What is the impetus of the creative burst if not to add to life? And what a simplistic statement in achieving such an extension that we have with the new editions of Bedri Baykam’s work at Gloria Delson Contemporary Art. The eloquent statements of beauty provide that staunch confidence yet without a sense of pretentiousness to the media.
Indeed, with the artist’s choice of mixed media, we have more of a plastic content with the cosmic joys with the various contours but above all the weight to the forms in the compositions give us a healthy medley and not a cacophonous attempt at imitating cosmic thrill-seeking. We have originality without hesitancy in appearance – or the lying vanity at pretending beautiful truth.
Such is the perfect posture of the media at their composition sizes, being larger than 50” wide and tall. They are comforting in approach, yet still bold, with proud colors and placement of darkness.
Simplicity is the mark of truth, as we have concrete demonstrations of Mr. Baykam’s beauty.
