‘Will I Live Again’ by Justin Ortiz @ Babst Gallery
In the honest effort at representing true originality, a healthy break from reality is provided to us amply by Mr. Justin Ortiz, with his Babst Gallery opening show ‘Will I Live Again’. In the artist’s statement, with an unprovoked Yes, there is the sufficient base to the priming of a spectacular foray into imagination.

The courage to rely upon the time-true human body, the form of the physical cosmos furnished suitable for wear, with that movement away from beautiful ideal (to the common sense perception); informs of a movement of beauty which transcends the senses. The artist encourages a dreamy fascination with the certain expression of human psychic struggle.

The healthy encouragement of such dream-world ideas, so constricted, so wound-up, unto that neutrality of color tones to warrant an idea of daze in that slumberous wrestling meditated within each composition. With each proudly titled, imbuing the hidden detail to cosmic immersion, wherein the brushstrokes demonstrate that variety of mastery to titillate the eye as the unconscious quagmire reveals itself to the light of day.
Such a subtle tension of extension requiring such peculiar ideas of human shape, promotes the movement of taste unto the invisible, where beauty is discovered in understanding itself.
